The Kiha 40 series is a general-purpose diesel car of the Japanese National Railways that was introduced in 1977.

The Kiha 40-2000 series was a vehicle for warm climates with a double driver's cab, and was originally painted in a vermilion color known as the capital region color, but from around 1992, the cars for the Hiroshima region were gradually changed to a yellow with cream and gray stripes.

The Hiroshima color, known as the yellow and cream color with thin gray stripes, is reproduced as it appeared before it was updated
