This LNER Driving Van Trailer comes with directional lighting, extra detail accessories and a 21-pin decoder socket so you can fit an HM7000 decoder and speaker, giving it sound options. This DVT is compatible with LNER Mk4 coaches and a LNER Class 91 locomotive.
Metro-Cammell of Washwood Heath, Birmingham built 32 DVTs between 1989 and 1992, specifically for use in the InterCity 225 sets on the ECML. After the loss of one set in the Great Heck accident in 2001, the remaining sets were refurbished by Bombardier at Wakefield between 2003 and 2005. They were further refurbished in 2016, before LNER (London North Eastern Railway) took over the InterCity East Coast franchise from Virgin Trains East Coast in June 2018. Finished in a striking LNER red and white livery, 82223 has been retained by the company, as part of ten sets providing backup for front-line Class 800 ‘Azumas’. It is still operational.
